Speed Burst (Brd, Wiz, Sor 2)

The great wizard Arinthal, an obese and quite unhealthy elder, was well known for his mastery of the arcane arts, but he had a dream of creating a spell that would make him the fastest wizard in the land.

So, he locked himself away in his tower and began his experiments. He tried countless combinations of incantations and ingredients, but nothing seemed to work. Day after day, he grew more and more discouraged.

Then one day, after weeks of tireless work, Arinthal finally discovered the formula for the Speed Burst spell. He was ecstatic. He cast the spell, and suddenly he felt a rush of energy coursing through his veins. He was faster than he had ever been before.

But just as he was reveling in his success, tragedy struck. The energy from the spell was too much for his body to handle, and he collapsed to the ground, dead.

Fortunately, the spell was transcribed in his spellbook which was discovered many years later by traveling adventurers.
